Sathapana Bank is the 5th largest bank in Cambodia, focusing on MSME and SME clients in rural areas, specifically in commerce and agriculture. In September 2020, it had approximately USD 1.7 billion in customer loans, total assets were USD 2 billion, and over 4,000 employees and 171 branches. Sathapana is pursuing a growth strategy to broaden its client base and to become a top-three player in the market, and it is seeking Tier 2 capital to enable this growth. Sathapana is an existing client of Finnfund. Finnfund provided a senior loan of USD 11 million to Sathapana Microfinance in 2015 and a Tier 2 loan of USD 10 million in 2019. The senior loan was part of the FMO syndicate and has been fully repaid.
