Home News and publicationsNewsMartti Ahtisaari in memoriam News|9 November 2023Martti Ahtisaari in memoriam We would like to express our deepest condolences for the passing of the former President of Finland, the Nobel Peace laureate, and former member of the Board of Directors of Finnfund. President Martti Ahtisaari served as board chair in 1986-88 and was otherwise an important supporter for the company in the 1980s and 1990s. His legacy shows the importance of developing countries’ role in building global well-being, sustainable growth, and conflict resolution. According to Ahtisaari, jobs especially for young people are the best development aid and play a key role in conflict resolution. His legacy will live on. Rest in peace.
