Markus Pietikäinen has accepted a position outside of Finnfund

Markus Pietikäinen, Chief Investment Officer, has accepted a position outside of Finnfund. He will continue working in his current position until the end of 2023. Finnfund has initiated the process to appoint his successor.

“I am honoured to have had the opportunity to lead Finnfund’s Investment operations for the last seven years. We as Finnfund have achieved a lot. Our portfolio with strong impact investments has grown by 140% (16% y-on-y), we have launched the Digital Infrastructure & Solutions business (now a portfolio of 101 million euros), we have established an origination hub in Nairobi, we have launched the first Finnish Global Impact fund with private investors and continue to have the same size investment team as in 2017. I will miss working with this great team that is highly considered in the investor community,” says Markus Pietikäinen.

“It has been a privilege to work with Markus. Despite the challenges of the global economy, pandemic years and numerous conflicts, crises and even coups in the countries we invest in, Finnfund has moved steadily forward during these years. Our investment operations have become much more productive, professional, and internationally recognised under his able guidance. We thank Markus for his dedicated work and wish him all the best on his next step”, says Jaakko Kangasniemi, Managing Director of Finnfund.
