Project description
PT Triview Geospatial Mandiri will finance, build, acquire, lease and/or operate cellular phone and broadcasting towers and related equipment for purposes of marketing tower space, IBS, DAS and related services (such as power for a cell site) to operators of broadcasting and wireless facilities and networks in Indonesia.
Main development impact
While mobile phone subscription rate In Indonesia in 2016 was close to 100 percent, only twenty-five percent of people used a smart phone. This figure is, however, rapidly growing together with an increase in rollout of 3G and 4G services. The current coverage and capacity of the base station network in Indonesia cannot meet the steep rise in data usage and new telecom infrastructure, including telecom towers, is required.
The company aims to build and maintain telecom towers in Indonesia thus adding to the data transmission capacity which, again, enables telecommunication companies and other telecommunication based service providers to increase the availability of their services. Increased access to internet and faster connections (especially through mobile broadband) facilitate economic development, for example, in the following ways: it assists economy wide technology diffusion and innovation, improves the quality of decision making by people (through pricing etc.), and increases demand for goods and services and lowers costs of production. In addition, increased smart phone penetration brings fintech applications available to people which, in turn, can facilitate poverty reduction through financial inclusion.
