For investors

Invest with us

Finnfund´s goal is to foster sustainable development not only by investing our own resources in impactful, profitable, and sustainable businesses but also by providing investment opportunities for institutional investors. Increasing the share of private funding in our funding base is also one of our strategic goals. Mobilising private capital is key to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

There are several ways how to invest with and through us. Below you may find more information about these options.

“We are developing new investment vehicles and frameworks to offer institutional investors and other impact-driven financiers opportunities to invest alongside and through Finnfund. Mobilising finance for sustainable development is at the core of our mandate and strategy.”

OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I

OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I is the first global emerging markets impact fund in Finland. The fund targets significant positive impacts in addition to financial return.

Launched in 2019, in collaboration with the OP Financial Group, the fund targets significant positive impacts on, for instance, climate change, food security, gender equality, and the availability of financing. The fund promotes the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in a measurable way, while providing an attractive return for institutional investors. The fund seeks an internal rate of return (IRR) of approximately 8–12 per cent.

The total fund size stands at 135 million euros. The fund is managed by OP Asset Management Ltd, part of the OP Financial Group, one of the largest banking groups in Finland. Finnfund acts as an adviser and anchor investor for the fund. The fund sources its investments solely through Finnfund.

The fund is classified as an Article 9 Dark Green Fund, according to the European Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR). OP Finnfund Global Impact Fund I focuses on three main industries in developing countries: renewable energy, financial institutions, and sustainable agriculture.
