IPT Powertech Group (IPT), established in 2006, specialises in providing energy solutions for mobile network operators (MNOs) in emerging markets. Its special focus area is the energy supply of telecom towers with hybrid solutions, i.e., a combination of solar panels, batteries, and diesel generators. The main purpose of the loan is to support the growth of IPT group operations and projects in chosen countries. This loan is part of the DEG-led syndicate of USD 80 million. Finnfund share of the financing is USD 15.4 million, bringing its total exposure to approximately USD 18 million. IPT has a strong role in transforming the telecom industry energy base from climate-negative and fossil fuel-based sources to energy-efficient and renewable sources, which fits well into Finnfund’s broader climate strategy.
